Quality education is a vital component of the high quality of life in Williamston.

Williamston Community Schools now serves more than 1,900 children in grades K-12, according to the latest enrollment tabulations. The school district has two elementary school buildings, one for children K-2 and the other for children in grades 3-5; a middle school building for students in grades 6-8; and a high school.

Teachers, parents, citizens and business people have joined together to ensure that the Williamston Public Schools provide an outstanding education to prepare all students for their place in the work force and their role as citizens.

Williamston Public Schools is a school district with enrollment of more than 1,900 students attending from the surrounding townships as well as the City of Williamston. The school district consists of some of the most modern and best equipped schools in the state: a large high school, a middle school, and two elementary schools.

Two private elementary schools service students in the Williamston area. St. Mary School is a Catholic elementary school, with an enrollment of approximately 100 students from preschool to fifth grade. Memorial Lutheran School has a current enrollment of approximately 55 students in grades kindergarten through eighth grade.

The Community Education program in Williamston serves the entire community offering educational and leisure-time classes to everyone from preschoolers to senior citizens. Brochures describing community education activities and classes are mailed to residents on a regular basis.

Williamston Community Education

Williamston Community Education is located at the Community Center in downtown Williamston. Our programs recognize that education extends beyond grades K-12 instruction. In fact, Community Education helps to expand education for the benefit of the entire community. The Enrichment Class Catalog is mailed out three times a year to the residents of Williamston, Webberville, and Dansville or it is available online. This booklet provides the community with information as to what is happening in Community Education. We are constantly seeking new ideas and suggestions so let us hear from you!

Our Mission…Williamston Community Education will improve the quality of life in our community by helping people of all ages learn, get to know and understand one another, and share their talents and skills with others. We will involve our citizens in problem solving and decision-making for the benefit of our community.

Watercolor Painting and Drawing Series We offer studio courses where different artistic techniques are taught. These classes are geared toward the beginners as well as the intermediate artist. There is something for every student since the focus is on a variety of different methods.

Sewing, Quilting, and Crafts We offer the community a variety of hobby-based courses. Our skilled and dedicated instructors will take you from start to finish on some of today’s most popular crafts. Make sure to page through our catalog around the holidays to get some great, homemade gift ideas.

Dog Obedience We regularly have dog obedience classes going at the Community Center. We have a class for every dog with Puppy Preschool, Basic Household Dog Obedience and Beyond Basic Dog Obedience being offered a few times a year. Our current instructor has been a professional dog trainer for over twenty-two years.

Fitness and Sports We offer a wide variety of sport and fitness opportunities. Our list of classes is always changing to meet the needs of the Community. There is a way to get in shape with Community Education almost every day of the week.

Youth We offer different youth opportunities each term and have a special focus on youth camps during the summer months. Check out our catalog to find Jr. Karate, Tot Toes, It’s Not Just Babysitting Anymore, Youth Golf Camps, and more. The selections are never ending so be on the look out for the class that may interest a younger community member that you know.
